Well after a year of focus groups, marketing campaigns, leaked pictures, production and eventually release…football fans never fail to be amazed by their club's ability to produce absolutely atrocious replica kits. How do they get it so wrong and why is the work experience kid let loose with the brown and yellow felt pens in the maker's design departments? Rumblings have already been heard from fans of Arsenal fed up with their Tottenham Hotspur-like third kit, Chelsea and Everton fans have raised eyebrows at the odd collars on their home shirts, Bolton fans are worried about being labelled barcodes, Manchester United's chest V has proven unusual, while bland offerings from Stoke City, Birmingham City, West Ham United and Sunderland have certainly failed to inspire. That being said...it could be worse as sport.co.uk runs through the ten worst kit designs which will no doubt be clogging up the stock rooms at their respective clubs this summer.

10.
Club: Bayer Leverkusen
Maker: Adidas
Reason: Yellow and Red may be suitable for Ronald McDonald but it looks pretty offensive on this offering from Michael Ballack’s former club.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_Bayer%20LeverkusenAWAY.jpg)

9.
Club: Tottenham Hotspur
Maker: Puma
Reason: All three kits look a little ropey but the excessive amounts of yellow on the home kit seem a nasty addition to a club whose tradition of white and blue usually produces smart outfits.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_Spurstrio.jpg)

8.
Club: St Pauli
Maker: Do You Football
Reason: For a club who pride themselves on playing their games inside Hamburg’s red light district and whose fans adopted a skull and crossbones as their unofficial emblem you’d expect something controversial…but brown? Really…it’s just very dull.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/STPauliBrown.jpg)

7.
Club: Bolton Wanderers
Maker: Reebok
Reason: A couple of seasons back Sam Allardyce took charge of designing the Trotters home kit and produced a very understated, plain white design. With Big Sam out the door though Reebok have wrestled control of the felt pens again and felt that excessive blue bar-coding was the obvious design necessity for the coming year.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_BoltonWanderers.jpg)

6.

Club: Borussia Dortmund
Maker: Kappa
Reason: Where do we start? German big boys Borussia Dortmund look like they’ll be trying to scare the opposition into surrender next season with this yellow and black eye sore. Known for their fluorescent home shirts, the cross over into away territory is almost complete.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_borussia-dortmund-09-10-kappa-kits-2.jpg)

5.
Club: Bury
Maker: Surridge
Reason: Perhaps it’s the nasty brown half…or the rather sorry sponsorship provided by the local council. After Manchester United’s AIG logo travesty it appears that Bury Council may have taken the biscuit.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_BURYAWAY.jpg)

4.
Club: Newcastle United
Maker: Adidas
Reason: You’ve just been relegated from the Premier League, your club is in turmoil, the rest of the country is laughing at you…and then Adidas decide that you need to have this Bananas in Pyjamas effort as your away shirt. Terrible…

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_NewcastleUnitedAway.jpg)

3.
Club: Bochum
Maker: Do You Football
Reason: In itself the design is almost passable, but then on closer inspection it appears the production team decided to paint the white stripes on…and they’ve not done a good job. Lads, you can’t leave us with just an undercoat.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_BochumHome.jpg)

2.
Club: Brisbane Roar
Maker: Reebok
Reason: It’s always been hard to pull off Orange unless you’re the classy Dutch side of the late 1970s…or Barnet. However, Brisbane Roar have decided that the more the better and furthermore felt a little maroon would offset it nicely. Terrible mix worsened by the local coffee shop's emblazoned sponsor.

(IMG:http://www.sport.co.uk/public/AI_BrisbaneRoarhome.jpg)

1.

Club: Heerenveen
Maker: Jako
Reason: No, those aren’t actually little red hearts you see plastered over Dutch side Heerenveen’s new home shirt…they are waterlily leaves, which apparently, along with the stripes, represent the districts of Friesland. We feel for the fans.

*Facepalm*

The official club colors are BROWN and white. Sankt Pauli almost always has brown. By the way, Sankt Pauli isn't really in the re dlight distirct, it's a good 45 minute walk.

Now, I will grant you, Dortmund and Bochum are ugly.

Heerenveen always have that pattern on so it's a bit stupid to include their kit as a worst for a season. Bolton's looks like a supermarket carrier bag.
