It will and it has.
I found him so sanctimonious at final whistle, aware cameras were on him and making sure he was seen commiserating and perhaps apologising to Richard Dunne. Very put on...

When it first hit his hand, he coudln't stop it, but he then went back with his hand to control it so it sat up nicely for him...completely pre-meditated and shocking behaviour from a so-called gentleman. Platini was probably laughing his arse off...Gallas looked so guilty, he said at final whistle he didn't see it, but you just have to look at his celebration...the guiltiest look I've seen since OJ Simpson tried on the glove (IMG:style_emoticons/default/roflmao.gif)

It's better to do that though, that run around the pitch winking and wiggling his arse in Dunne's face.

I like Henry, so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

My mate just texted me and he reckons Henry is getting away with it.

I like Henry also. But no player would gloat in that situation, not even an italian player! He should have left the pitch immediately with his head bowed. He started looking all awkward when he noticed every camera on him and THEN he made a play for Richard Dunne.

No benefit of the doubt there. He cheated and then did a show for the cameras displaying remorse...Dunne was the true gent. He should have told Henry to fuck off

Playing up to the cameras is a cheap trick and is all about massaging his ego rather than borne out of any true sincerity

Very true. Henry has just created this aura of a gentleman about him but he is definitely not all he appears

Hope for your sake that's a wind-up attempt. If not then you really shouldn't be allowed to spread your thought on the internet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Just so happens Henry one the most honest players in this world. Any player in the world attempts things like that when your desperate for a goal. It hit's his arm, but he flaps a bit, i really don't think that was on purpose. I would of done it thats for sure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_mrgreen.gif)

while done it agains plain stupidity is pretty astounding... i kind of agree with one point. we would have all done the same in the same situation i think.

It hit his arm, your natural instinct is to control it (discreetly) and carry on. If the ref and linos didnt spot it, it's not Henry's fault. Yes he may have shown a lack of class etc but how many of us in the same situation in such a massive game in front of a home crowd would have stopped celebrating, gone over to the ref and said: "sorry i handballed there, didn't you see? Let's disallow that goal and start again please?"

Oh do shut up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hahaha.gif)

It hit his hand , some players would have moved arm quickly and others may well have done what he did which was touch the ball a second time to keep it in play. That's not the point. Point is it was DELIBERATE and it is cheating...so of course it was on purpose you mong! At one point I thought he was gonna bounce the ball a couple of times and go for a slam dunk (IMG:style_emoticons/default/roflmao.gif)

FIFA want the big nations at the world cup no matter how bad they are so that's why the referee( who had had a good game up until then) conviently "missed" the blatant handball by henry.

I can't believe the BBC has a live page about the incident and has been updating it since 10:40am this morning.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8367913.stm

Yes, it was an obvious handball and if the referee had seen it the goal wouldn't have stood. Yes, it looks like Henry moved his hand towards the ball to keep it in play the second time he touched it.

Did he mean it? Who knows. After the game Henry was telling the Irish players that it was handball, but if the referee doesn't see it what are you going to do? Only a select few players in this world would go up to the referee and apologise and say that the goal shouldn't have stood, but then the referee wouldn't have taken any notice anyway and play would have gone on with the game at 1-1.

It's unfortunate that this was such a huge game so the incident will be blown up. I was cheering for Ireland last night so I was disappointed about what happened but there you go. I don't think the handball was any worse then a player diving to win a penalty and getting away with it. At least with this handball you could say that it was a heat of the moment thing, whereas diving to win a penalty without being touched seems like more of a preconceived thing.

And in the end what have we all learnt? This is a great argument for video technology to be introduced into the game. Upon appeal the referee could have contacted the fourth official or whoever gets put in charge of looking at the video, he could have spotted the handball and advised the referee to award a free-kick to Ireland. It would have taken no more than a minute to do and all of this outrage would have been avoided.

I'd like to hear FIFA's excuse for dismissing video technology after last night.
