The Copa América 2007 is the 42nd edition of the Copa América, the main international football tournament for the South America region. It is organised by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body, and is set to be held in Venezuela between June 26 and July 15, 2007, being the first time that Venezuela will hold the tournament.

* Mexico (Invitee)
* Paraguay
* Peru
* Uruguay
* USA (Invitee)
Costa Rica had been provisionally extended an invitation by CONMEBOL upon an initial rejection from the USA team. However, the latter later decided to accept the invitation leaving the former out of the competition.

Ours probably will too. Can't imagine too many Euro-based players getting called in.

I think the US will be sending a bunch of our younger players into this. For example, I think we'll be seeing players like Michael Parkhurst and Bobby Boswell as center backs instead of Bocanegra or Gooch.

The thing is our regional championship ends two days before Copa America starts. And since it is not our regional tournament we cannot force our players' clubs to release their players. Its complicated, yes, and unfortunate, but it is what it is. I'd take Copa America more seriously, but with the squad we will send it's hard to.
