He gets provoked A LOT because back then he was very short tempered. Also, if you look at that compilation, most of the times, he had a case. There is also the fact that referees have a tendency of not protecting him so he gets frustrated with it and acts the way he does.
He's calmed down a lot in recent years. He still goes off from time to time but a lot less than when he was younger.

Your judgment on him is too emotional rather than rational. You don't like him so you're bashing him and making him out to be as the worst diver in Europe. Everybody dives, everyone falls from a minimal contact from time to time, it's how it is these days. Totti isn't any different. He's not a diver, he sometimes falls from minimal contact, like everyone else.
As I said before, he still goes off from time to time but if you followed the news about that Balottelli incident, Totti said that Mario told him he's old and finished. He provoked him and Roma was one minute away from losing the Supercoppa. So Totti lost his temper. Did he have the right to go off like that, absolutely not, it was a childish act, but he's calmed down a lot in these recent years and honestly if anyone deserves to be kicked, it was Balottelli as he already greatly infuriated the Roma fans before. Totti is a ScubaBoy and always will be. As far as I know, Totti never even denied calling Bottelnecky a N*gg**. That's even worse than kicking him. Yes,.. it is true; I do not like Totti. I have enough reasons,.. him being a racist is just another reason.

That's not what I have read, but then again, like you said... I don't follow Roma enough, and I don't plan on doing so. Either way, if Totti says he never used the N-word it must be true as he would never lie, thus I stand corrected. I also feel very bad for him that he felt so lonely and sad. Poor guy.

It is rather ironic that after the last couple of world cups the two dutch fans are the ones complaining in here about diving and violence. I wonder if they talk about their national team the same way?

If it would only be in the Italian competition that would be one thing. I'm pretty sure though that you can fill a whole 2 hour show with his acting performances on the NT as well. Luckily not all referees fall for that crap.

I don't recall many real incidents with Italy, if you are talking about weak falls and dives we could say that about hundreds of players. Of course there was the disgusting spitting at Poulsen incident, there Poulsen basically wound him up the whole game as he has done many times in international competition, therein lies the problem with Totti. He reacts too badly to things, and gets frustrated too easily.
I can't say for me that Totti is a likeable player as I grew to hate him in those bitter games against Roma where he acted like a bitch and was never far away from the trouble, he didn't fulfill his true potential for Italy in my opinion, but as a player he was still fantastic for a long time and of course won the World Cup while he was probably past his best so no one can deny him that. There are also incidents at international level where his reputation cost him, such as in 2002 when he was taken down in the area (could be penalty or play on only) and given a second yellow card for diving. Moreno was a FIFA fix anyway so it's probably misguided to blame his reputation, but those players don't get protected at all at international level. It happens with all these types of player in the league, players like Ronaldo, they get more domestic protection and decisions as they are a jewel of the league. Plus international refs are too often very poor.
