Thanks for answering my questions guys in the old forum.

And thanks Pladd for this site scholarships.com
It's helping out too. And getting to college doesn't seem so hard now!

------------------------------------

I think I've found what I want to major in and I've narrowed it down to these choices.

Hotel/Restaurant Management
International Business
Management
Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation
Retail
Sports Administration (what exactly is this?)

I think Physical Therapy or Hotel/Restaurant Management is what I might go for, but I'm not 100% sure and looks like I've got plenty of time!

Don't believe I gave you that website but you're welcome anyway.

Retail....boooooooooo.

But the rest of those look good. It seems that you have a large array of interests. Do whatever will make you happy.

Hotel/restaurant management has got to be one of the worst jobs. When you are a manager in the service industry you have to take so much sh*t from stupid ungrateful people. And, you have to do it with a smile.

A lady I work with has a daughter who worked in hotel management for a year after she graduated from college. She absolutely hated it.

I have a friend who majored in Sports Administration and now she works for a AAA Baseball team doing promotions and things like that. She may have gotten the job because of her major, but I think its because she has a nice rack!
For your sake, I hope its the first reason or you are sh#t out of luck my friend.

I thought it would be cool to own my own restaurant?

I know a lady who just bought her own restaurant. It's something that she always wanted and now she's regretting it. It's long hours and little money.

Anyways thanks for telling me about some of these, I'd like to know more.

What about being a Physical Therapist? They get so much money for sometimes not even doing anything!

Cesc,
I think I speak for almost everyone when I say that any of the "Service" Industry majors you listed would be a mistake! If you want a generic degree just go for a Buisness Degree. It wont lock you into a field like Hotels and Resturants, or Retail.

The more options you have when you graduate, the better. Unless you absolutely want to specialize.

Physical Therapy could be cool. Another one of my roommates majored in Athletic Training. He loved it. My college is actually great for AT. He's gone on to grad school to do something with physical therapy.

Eh, I didn't know much about the things I picked anyways. Now I know and it doesn't sound like much fun.

The restaurant business is one of the hardest businesses in the world. Even if you have a successful restaurant, it can be difficult to make money. Plus, just look around. There are restaurants everywhere. There is so much competition that most restaurants fail within the first year or two of existence.

If I were doing it all over again, I'd major in nuclear engineering and then do a two year masters in medical physics. Those dudes are starting at $120,000 and it is only 6 years of school.

How much would that cost for one year though to go to do a major like that, would the school be expensive?

If you play your cards right, it could be very very cheap.

YOu are a Georgia Resident so you would qualify for Hope Scholarship. If you can get accepted into the nuclear engineering department at Georgia Tech, you basically have a full ride as long as you keep your grades up.

Then the master's can be free if you are willing to teach a few classes. Not a bad route in my opinion.

Take my word for it, don't go into physical therapy. It is a profession that is quickly going downhill. Both of my parents are therapists, and they continue to dislike it.

It depends on what you do though, of course. My dad used to love being a traveling team therapist/trainer. If you work for a sports team, its great. But if you get stuck in a nursing home, it sucks.

I won't go into detail about it now, but I can tell you more later if you want. I come from a family of physical therapists, but I have no interest in it.

However, I'm looking into sports management or journalism.
