There are reports that Koeman will no longer play Albelda and Canizares, Angulo will likely also be next. What do you think about this Furia? Both have been such important players for Valencia the past 5 or 6 season.
Juan
Albelda I can understand, but Cañizares can still crank out top class performances.
scottrh18
But is it really the way to go about it? Telling the club's captain that he won't play any longer? Surely there's a more respectable way to do it.
Furia Roja
They are not longer as good as they used to be but you can't treat players like that, specially when they have been part of Valencia's success recently. They were part of one of the best valencia's team ever so they should give them more respect. It was a big mistake to say this on public.
DDK
He has to make the tough decisions, and Koeman hasnt been at the club that long so he doesnt know that oth have been at the club 10+ years especially albleda who has spent his whole career there. Its time to give Sunny a shot he can take his palce
Juan
Interesting, Villa's agent implied that his client may now want to leave Valencia.
scottrh18
I saw that earlier too Juan. It would serve Koeman right for treating players so poorly.
scottrh18
It looks like the clearout will continue. Fernandes, Zigic, and Vicente appear to be the next to be frozen out.
Juan
Ludicrous. This will just benefit other clubs.
scottrh18
Does the club think that they'll be able to sell these players for a decent price now? Clubs aren't going to give them much now that they know Valencia don't want the players.

It appears that Valencia's season is over if this is true. They'll be playing nothing but youth players before long.

Rumours linking Albelda with a move to Everton for around £4-5mil. Has he really declined so quickly?

Has he really declined so quickly?

He has had a poor season, like many others in the team. Maybe a change would do him good.

David Albelda, meanwhile, has no intention of quitting football, but is clearly stunned with this turn of events.

"The club's leadership has no class," he said, referring to their decision not to issue to him an official notice of dismissal, and instead letting coach Koeman do the honours.

"After what we've achieved here and growing with the club, I can die in peace," continued the 30-year-old.

"I leave with a clear conscience. I always did my best and was always willing to help."

Unlike Santi, Albelda has no desire to quit football.

"I was absolutely shocked because it's so unexpected, after all I've been through, but I forsee more days to come," he began.

"But those who sacked me didn't have the class not to humiliate me, and although I do hope that there are changes in form, I don't agree with the methods.

"Don't humiliate me. I'll always be remembered in Valencia as a humble friend who helped out."

Very sad! He's only 30, been at the club his whole career and he's had half a bad season? Now he's essentially been sacked.
This is the kind of player you hold on to.
JuveJay
I can't believe Fernandes is going to be available, he seems a quality young player.
scottrh18
It's things like this that make you want to see Valencia fail now. Sorry Furia. sad.gif

If that wasn't enough, Soler closed the Ciudad Deportivo so that the fans couldn't turn up to say goodbye to these players. What a classy move. dry.gif

I can't believe what I'm reading here. ohmy.gif Especially about Fernandes, Zigic, and Vicente being expected to leave. Valencia may find themselves in the same situation as Deportivo if this continues.

Yeah, I saw a clip from Albelda's press conference and it was pretty emotional. I hope the fans turn on Soler and Koeman.

Terrible moves by Koeman, but Soler is the prime architect of this calamity.

Someone needs to put cyanide in his cereal.
Juan
Miguel Angulo has confirmed via press conference that he has been chopped as well; he likened it to being stabbed in the heart.
Furia Roja
We shoud have sold these players in the summer instead of doing this. Apparently Albelda and Cañizares were trying to control Koeman (just like they were doing with Quique) and that's the reason they are out. I'm still don't agree with the way we're dealing with these players but we needed some change in the locker room

Valencia will buy Mehmet Aurelio from Fenerbahce in couple of weeks.

MADRID, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Valencia are not looking to get rid of dropped players David Albelda, Santiago Canizares and Miguel Angel Angulo, club president Juan Bautista Soler said on Friday.

'It is a technical decision taken by (coach Ronald) Koeman. They haven't been separated from the squad, or sacked. They simply haven't been selected,' Soler told a news conference.

Koeman has told the experienced trio that they no longer featured in his plans after the club fell out of European competition and off the pace in the Primera Liga title race.

'This is the official version from the club. The coach said he did not count on them for now. No one has said they will not be recalled to the side again. I hope they will return to play for the club,' Soler added.

Both Albelda and Canizares believed they were being forced out and have asked the club to honour and release them from their contracts so they can seek transfers.

Spain midfielders Albelda and Angulo, and former Spain goalkeeper Canizares, who between them have won more than 100 international caps, are three of the longest-serving members of the squad.

'These types of things have happened in other clubs. Real Madrid decided to get rid of Ronaldo, and dropped David Beckham, Raul and Guti last season and these same players ended up coming back to win them the league,' Soler added.

'It is a temporary situation. The people who hold the key to reversing the decision are the players. It is in the hands of the players and the coach.'

Valencia are seventh in the standings, 15 points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Real Madrid decided to get rid of Ronaldo

And Madrid did sell him at the first opportunity, a rather poor example for Soler to use.

Koeman is saying the complete opposite of Soler.

Valencia have told Albelda that he's free to leave.....if he pays his 60 million euro buyout clause. What a bunch of dicks.
Juan
So he can't play and he can't leave?

Ridiculous.

Ridiculous.

Pretty much. I hope Valencia don't even make the UEFA Cup at this rate. They're a disgrace.
Fabregas#4
Albelda is going to sue Valencia isn't he? For that 60million Euros which is his buyout clause.
scottrh18
David Albelda has demanded to be told why he has been ostracised by Valencia.

The Spain international midfielder has been told he is surplus to requirements by coach Ronald Koeman, but is confused as to why he cannot discuss moves elsewhere.

Whenever the subject of interest from other teams comes up, Valencia state that he can only leave for the €60m (£44.5million) specified in his buy-out clause.

"The coach and the technical staff in general have not looked at me and have undervalued me since December 18," he told EFE.

Reason

"I do not deserve what they are doing to me and the truth is that I do not know the reason and I would like to.

"The fans also have the right to know about the reasons as so much has been said and speculated about. I just hope they do explain."

Along with Santiago Canizares and Miguel Angel Angulo, the 30-year-old is confused and does not like being squeezed out from every area of the club.

"I feel more marginalised and separated in training," Albelda continued. "The coaching staff wants us not to have contact with the rest of the squad.

"They have even changed the system when we meet so that we do not train with the players.

"This has already caused irrevocable damage and I am going to defend my rights to the end, especially after the terrible way the directors have treated me."

Regret

Albelda then explained that he turned down several offers to renew his contract under Quique Sanchez Flores, but now regrets making the decision.

"I renewed with Valencia and turned down higher offers to stay here with my hometown club," he explained.

"I do not know about all the other stuff, I just know that when clubs have come in to ask about me they have been told me buy-out clause price.

"I just want to play football and the coach and the president are stopping. Every day they are making my life more impossible and forcing me out of the club."
scottrh18
Koeman really is a dick. He said today that Aragones called up Albelda because he "surely would be very fresh" in a joking manner. Not a very good way to treat a club legend.

La Liga - Albelda row rumbles on

The fall-out between Valencia and their former captain David Albelda is showing no sign of letting up after they failed to find an agreement to rescind his contract with the club. Albelda is claiming constructive dismissal after, in December, he was stripped of the captaincy, dumped in the reserves and told he would never again wear the shirt of Valencia by new coach Ronald Koeman following over a decade of service for Los Che.

But a five hour meeting at the behest of Albelda - who wants an amicable solution to the fall-out to precipitate a move before the free transfer deadline - failed to find agreement between the parties. "Despite the good will of all those concerned we were unable to come to an agreement," agent Alberto Toldra said.

"I genuinely believe that they, as much as us, want to fix this, but alas we've been unable to do so. There's still a chance something could be sorted by Friday." If Valencia and Albelda do not agree terms, an independent committee has ordered a decision to be made through the courts by February 22nd.

The judge in this case, Miguel Ángel González Crespo has ruled against Albelda. He has five days to appeal.
