Giorgio Chiellini was born in Pisa on the 14th of August 1984; his parents are called Fabio and Lucia. He has 3 brothers: his twin Claudio, Giulio and Silvia. He achieved a high school diploma in scientific subjects and was thus able to enrol at Turin University, where he's currently studying Business.
Giorgio is very much into videogames and the football management simulation at www.hattrick.org. He also loves reading a lot. Musically, his tastes aren't clearly defined. He does appreciate Luciano Ligabue, as he's the singer-songwriter that strikes and moves him the most. His favourite song is “Piccola stella senza cielo”. He often goes to the cinema: his favourite film is “The Usual Suspects”, but he's also partial to the works of Roberto Benigni, the Italian artist he appreciates the most.
If he were to invite you to dinner, he'd feed you spaghetti made with lemon sauce, probably washed down with some nice fresh Chianti.
His look is simple and sober. He prefers wearing sportswear.
Giorgio loves every sport: tennis, volleyball, and most of all he's a real fan of NBA basketball. His favourite sports personality is Federer, the tennis player.
He started playing at 6 years of age for Livorno and at first was used as a central midfielder. As he grew up, he was switched on the wing and finally he found his position as a lateral defender. These days, thanks to his flexibility, he can be employed as a central defender too. His happiest memory as a professional is the game he played with the Italian National team in Milan: a 2-0 victory against Scotland.
His dream? Lifting the World Cup with the National team one day, and winning the Champions League with Juventus.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini hasn’t given up hope of the most unlikely of Scudetto triumphs.
The Old Lady beat Inter in the Derby d’Italia a fortnight ago and have closed the gap on the leading duo.
The newly promoted side trail second-placed Roma by seven points with a game in hand and are 11 points from the top.
“We have closed the gap and there could be surprises to come in this race,” Chiellini declared on Sky Sport Italia. “We are close to Roma and not even too far from Inter.
“Our duty from now until the end of the season is to try and win every game and see what happens.
“Our rivals are fighting for first place but I would like to stun them. But I can concede that it won’t be easy, in fact it is nearly impossible.
“But it costs nothing to dream and sometimes they come true.
“For me, things aren’t finished. We have a tough fixture list but it’s the same for them, so we will have to see. Here at Juve we are used to fighting to the bitter end.
“Who am I backing between Roma and Inter? I don’t support either – I am only a Juventus fan.”
The Bianconeri travel to struggling Palermo this weekend and then host Milan in Week 33.

Nice words, Chie shows the Juve spirit, we never give up until it is impossible.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was proud of the way the Bianconeri defended against Parma yesterday.
While David Trezeguet and Raffaele Palladino received the majority of the plaudits, the Old Lady’s defence barely seemed to break sweat as they contained a lacklustre Ducali side.
“We played well and we deserve a share of the credit for them doing little,” Chiellini told the Juventus Channel.
“The relationship with Guglielmo Stendardo is going well. He had a great game and has integrated well as a part of our mechanism.
“We did the opposite to what we have done all season and put the game to bed in the first half.
“David’s goal took the wind out of their sails and it was all downhill from there.”
Chiellini concluded by discussing his personal dual with Parma striker Bernardo Corradi.
“We are good friends,” he insisted. “On the pitch we tussle and there are blows, but we hug at the end of the game.”

Parma was hardly the biggest test, but the defence did look good and Chiellini looks solid with Stendardo.

Can it be said that it was Ranieri's genius that this guy was turned into a centreback?
Watching him against Spain today, fantastic. There was one spell when he made about 4 blocks/interceptions in 10 minutes.

Stellar performance from Giorgio against Spain, glad someone else noticed enough to think it was worthwhile to post, Ricky.
He is on his way to being a world class defender.

He is the future of Italy and Juventus, now all we need to do is put someone alongside him. My choice is Gamberini, it would be an athletic and strong but mobile defence.

He has been a rock all tournament. I wasnt sure about his inclusion V Romania but he has proved that he has been taking great strides to becoming what we always believed he would be eventually, but i never believed he would advance so quickly. He has been brilliant and next year with Mellberg he will form a scary partnership without a doubt. He is the future of the Italian long line of world's best central defenders.

Giorgio Chiellini has revealed that he urged Roma midfield ace Alberto Aquilani to join him at Juventus.
Juve are currently looking for a new midfielder after last summer’s additions Sergio Almiron and Tiago Mendes failed to make an impression.
Giallorossi and Azzurri star Aquilani was one of the Old Lady’s targets, but a move seems out of the question, much to Chiellini’s disappointment.
“I have been playing alongside Alberto in Italy’s youth sides since we were 15 and our parents are very close friends,” the Bianconeri defender said on Sky Sport Italia.
“We have always spoken regularly and I have constantly been telling him to come to Turin.
“I told him about how great this city is and said that the choice was left to him, but the situation isn’t simple because he grew up at Roma and he is strongly tied to that club.”
Juve now look likely to redouble their attempts to land Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso and could move for Inter man Dejan Stankovic, in spite of protests from the fans.
“There are no doubts about Alonso,” Chiellini stated. “He has proven himself year after year for Liverpool.
“He is a great player and he could help us. We need a great champion to help us fight Milan, Inter and Roma, but there are other names.
“Stankovic? It’s only natural that he wouldn’t be that popular here after playing for Inter for so many years,” Chiellini continued.
“However, a player of that type can win over the supporters after a few games.
“I don’t know what decision the club will make, but the fans can rest assured that if he came he would give his all to cancel out the memories of him in an Inter shirt.”

Reports say he might be out for 3 to 6 months. Even if he is out for a month we are f*cked. He was our only Solid Defender. I cant comprehend how Juventus did not by anyone for there back line for this upcoming season. Grosso, Ivanović, Maggio were all available.

Fucking nightmare if he is out for months, we have no chance of winning anything with Chiellini injured.

Doctor Agricola:
“Chiellini could just have a sprain on his left knee and we will do the necessary tests on Monday afternoon,”
“It may not be anything too serious. We will see what the extent of the damage is and he may be out for around 40 days.”

Fingers crossed, a month or so wouldn't be too bad but still a blow. I think Mellberg-Legrottaglie can hold the fort until then.

“I prefer to be a little cautious with regards to my condition,”
“I got quite a scare at the Trofeo Berlusconi. I’m improving now and started running again. We’ll see how it goes when I start kicking the ball.
“I watched the game with Fiorentina and it’s a shame about the draw when we thought the points were already in the bag. Never mind, I saw a good Juve performance.”

He could be back in two weeks!

What a warrior. He needs to take his time though, not rush it.

Great news, and expected

He really has turned into one of the world's best, when you see the level he has played at this season it makes you thankful to have him. He has helped Bonucci settle in and constantly covers everyone, a great leader and warrior who always puts his body on the line and also adds a goal threat from set pieces. Long live King Kong Killini!
