Cristian Molinaro was born in Moio della Civitella, near Salerno, on the 30th of July 1983. His dad is called Emilio and is a high school P.E. teacher. His mum Franca is also a teacher, but at an elementary school. Cristian has two brothers, both of them older than him: Bartolomeo, a chartered accountant, and Angelo, a humanities teacher: truly a family of teachers! Cristian has a surveyor diploma and naturally his favourite subjects at school were humanities.
Cristian is a real videogame enthusiast. He favours simulation and motor racing games; these have become a true passion of his. When he finds time to relax, he loves listening to music and, even though Italian singer Ligabue is his favourite artist, he certainly doesn't disdain foreign music.

He’s also a great movie lover. His number one film of all time? Oliver Stone's "Any Given Sunday". His favourite actor is Denzel Washington, who was excellent in “John Q”, whereas his favourite actress is definitely Meg Ryan.
He doesn't watch a lot of television, but he does have a penchant for comedy shows such as Zelig, with two of his favourite comedians, Claudio Bisio and Raul Cremona.

He's been playing classical guitar for over ten years now, and he's very much into computers. Another hobby of his is collecting Spiderman comics.

Cristian is really rather keen on food. He loves sweets in any shape or form. His favourite? Crostata pie, without the shadow of a doubt. He's also a fairly good connoisseur of wines. It would be impossible to make a list of his favourites because he claims that each wine has its own characteristics, but if he really had to narrow the choice down to two, he'd pick Tocula, a white wine from the Campania region, and Brunello di Montalcino among reds.

He's not obsessed with how he looks. He prefers to dress casual for comfort, but admits he doesn't spend much money on clothes.

Cristian loves all kinds of sports. He's a huge tennis enthusiast; he plays it a lot during the summer. His favourite sports personality outside of football is Roger Federer. He also follows the world motorbike racing championship religiously.

Molinaro began playing football at age 5 in the Gelbison team. He always played as a left wing in those days. When he joined Salernitana's youth academy he was moved to left-back. His arrival at Juventus represents the happiest moment of his career until now and he hopes to stay at the club for a very long time.

He has two recurring dreams: on a professional level he hopes one day to play for the national team and to play in - and maybe win - the Champions League. As for his private life, he dreams of building a big happy family just like the one he grew up in.

Juventus defender Cristian Molinaro is revelling in the Old Lady’s impressive season and has set his sights on Azzurri selection.

The 24-year-old signed from youth club Salernitana in 2005, but was immediately loaned out to Siena where he impressed sufficiently to be brought back to Turin last summer.

Molinaro has made 18 full appearances for the Bianconeri this term and has thrived while the more experienced Jean-Alain Boumsong wilted under the pressure.

“Growing up I admired Paolo Maldini, but since I became a wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta has been my idol who I watch and try to learn from,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Now it’s my dream to get into the national side. I will give my all to be deemed worthy of that and at least if I don’t make it I will have no regrets.

“As for Juve, after our win over Roma we can easily come second and I can’t wait to play in the Champions League,” he concluded brashly.

I think he has done quite well to be honest and I think he gets too much stick for not being 'Gianluca Zambrotta'. Luca was a seasoned player with trophies and big matches behind him, these 'fans' need to be realistic. He has great stamina and speed like Zambrotta in his prime but also has a good cross, he just needs to work on his defending and in a settled defence he will get there.

Cristian Molinaro was one of the revelations of Juventus’ successful return to Serie A and his next target is an Azzurri shirt.

The unassuming stopper excelled after returning from a loan spell at Siena and was a rock at the heart of the Old Lady’s defence.

Now Molinaro has set his heart on wearing the Italy shirt as they look to defend their world title in 2010.

“I have always had two football dreams – to play for a great club and to wear the Azzurri shirt,” he told the Juventus Channel.

“Thanks to Juventus, I have achieved the first and have been able to express myself at the highest level, but now I am looking for the second objective.

“What did I think of Italy-France? The lads gave us all an immense joy,” he grinned.

“They did well to impose their game and started with great determination, surely more than the French.

“This motivation is the secret weapon, but we were fortunate that Holland did their bit.”

Strange to hear their choice of words, I was one of the few Juventini who actually thought he had a pretty good season, most seem to think he was poor. He'll have a job on his hands to get a slot at left back for Italy, that position is overloaded.

Molinaro won't give up

Juventus defender Christian Molinaro refuses to concede defeat in the title race despite Inter's handsome advantage.

The reigning champions lead by seven points and have the advantage this weekend as they host rock bottom Reggina while Juventus must visit Roma.

“We can still get 30 more points and we intend to get as many of them as possible,” Molinaro said on the Juventus Channel.

“We will not give up and we are looking forward to the April showdown against Inter.

“We have always shown that we are not inferior to anyone and we will take anyone on.”

Juventus will be favourites against Roma this weekend because the Giallorossi have a large number of absentees.

“Roma are a good side and we must not take them for granted,” Molinaro warned.

“They are always organised and we must be very careful. We have always given our all in spite of the injuries we have had.”

His crossing and passing has been largely shit, but he is vastly improved this season and gets better with every game. He can defend and run up and down the wing all day. It just shows you that if you persevere with even an extremely limited player technically at a high level, you can turn them into something decent. Games make players. However in the long term I would like to see De Ceglie given a fair few starts in his position, he has more to offer.

Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Hamburg and Hoffenheim want him apparently.

AS reckons he has joined Atletico Madrid on loan with an option to buy, nothing official though.

FFS, we can't even sell him.

Official: Molinaro to Stuttgart

Stuttgart have announced the arrival of Juventus full-back Cristian Molinaro. “I am finally here, after a long journey.”

The defender had been very close to Atletico Madrid, but yesterday the German club swooped in with a winning bid.

Molinaro will spent the next six months on loan in Stuttgart and is already on German soil.

“I like the Bundesliga,” he told Sky Italia television. “I am finally here, after a long journey, at last.”

He comes to reinforce a struggling Stuttgart side that is currently third from bottom with just 16 points.

“The team is not in a position it usually holds in the table and decidedly deserves better.”

Molinaro could well make his debut on January 16 against Wolfsburg, who have their own Italian defender in the form of Andrea Barzagli.

Like the ball from your crosses. I hope Stuttgart like him so we can sell him lol. He always tries though, can't dislike his commitment, wish him luck.

Molinaro has started both games for Stuttgart so far, some say he has been very good, others that he looks bad, but he has 4 points so far and had a couple of assists today as Stuttgart had a big 3-1 win against Wolfsburg.

Apparently Moli has been doing well for Stuttgart, he even made it into the UEFA team of the week once icon_mrgreen.gif

Hopefully he keeps playing well so we can sell him for a higher price, he has some good attributes but technique is not one, he isn't quite good enough for Juve.
JuveJay
He got into the Bundesliga team of the year hahaha.gif

He'll join Stuttgart permanently next season, thankfully.

"We are very happy that we have been able to bind Cristian to us in the long term. It's certainly not self-explanatory that a player from Juventus should move to the Bundesliga," sporting director Jochen Schneider was quoted as saying on the Stuttgart website.

"Cristian is one of the best left full-backs in the league and he integrated with us here immediately. He was a leader in the latter half of the season and had a part to play in us being the best team through the second half of the campaign."

They gave it as 'undisclosed', but the fee agreed prior was €4m.
