Mauro German Camoranesi was born on the 4th of October 1976 in Tandil, Argentina, where his parents and sister still live. He is married and has three children.
His main hobby is music: he's been playing the electric bass for years now, an instrument he learned to play on his own. Music is an important part of his day: apart from playing it, he also listens to a lot of it, mainly rock. Despite being so into it, he hasn't got a singer or a lyric to which he's particularly attached. It doesn't matter to him, as long as it's good music.
He's not a huge movie fan, but he does admit to liking Robert De Niro as an actor. His favourite movies are those taken from true events and stories. One of the best films he's ever seen is called Great Expectations.

Mauro – nicknamed “Camo” by his team mates – is a real gourmet. He's been a lover of all Italian cuisine for many years now and the one dish he really cannot give up is lasagne. He doesn't know a lot about wine, but, given the choice, he opts for red wines.

Mauro chooses his clothes with care but isn't overtly concerned with current fashions. He favours casual, sporty clothes over elegant formalwear. He's quite into trainers but not obsessive about them.

He's been playing golf regularly for a couple of years now and occasionally plays tennis too. He likes to watch Formula 1 and Motorbike racing on TV, and recently has been getting into rugby as well. His favourite sportsman is golfer Ian Poulter.

As for his football career, he started playing when he was 9 in a team called Jorge Newbery and from the very start he was employed as a midfielder on the wing. His fondest memory at Juventus is the 2002/03 season, his first there, when he won the Scudetto and reached the Final of the Champions League.

It's very easy to guess his fondest memory in general: winning the World Cup, of course.
His greatest ambition is winning a European Cup with Juventus. A promise he made to himself that he’d like to extend to all the fans.

Juventus winger Mauro Camoranesi has been hit by a hefty fine for a challenge he made 13 years ago.

The Azzurri star was playing for Alvarado against local rivals Aldosivi in August 1994 when he put in a horror tackle on Javier Pizzo.

The foul effectively ended Pizzo’s career as he was left with damage to his ligaments, meniscus and tendons.

After a lengthy legal process, judge Heber Amalfi has ordered Camoranesi to pay Pizzo around £30,000 in compensation for a tackle, which was “imprudent”.

Pizzo’s knee was reduced to around 39 per cent of its previous capacity and he was sidelined for three years. Upon returning to the game, he was only able to make another four appearances.

Camoranesi’s legal team have indicated that they will appeal the judgement.

Mauro Camoranesi is hoping that he won’t be on Juventus’ growing injury list for this weekend’s away game against Reggina.

The Old Lady are set to start without Azzurri stars Gigi Buffon and Vincenzo Iaquinta as they try and intensify the pressure on second-placed Roma.

Camoranesi has been struggling with injuries throughout the season, but he is planning to feature in Calabria.

“I had a tough week after the game against Udinese and I didn’t train,” he revealed.

“I carried some physical problems with me from the start of the season. I have always had to train in a way that ensures that I don’t aggravate these issues.

“However, I will have to be ok now and will be there for the derby and maybe for Saturday.

“I would rather play on the wing, but I will play in the centre if we have an emergency.”

Reggina have been beaten in four consecutive games, but Camoranesi isn’t taking the Stadio Granillo game lightly.

“Reggina are a tough team,” he claimed. “As the end of the season draws in, the teams battling against relegation get tougher to face.

“This is a very important moment in the season. We want direct qualification into the Champions League Group stages, then clearly we would be looking to win that next year.

“Until two months ago we were talking about the Scudetto, but now we are calm.
The objective is second place.”

It has been a hard week for Camoranesi, who faces a £30,000 fine for a career-ending tackle early in his career while playing in Argentina.

Camo looked fit and near his best against Reggina, its great to have him back. On a better day his shot would have gone in and he might have had one decision go his way but he will be important, especially now as we keep getting pegged back.

Juventus winger Mauro Camoranesi is happy with the Bianconeri’s campaign ahead of their crucial Saturday showdown against Milan.

The Old Lady host their Rossoneri rivals knowing that a win could more or less secure their place in next season’s Champions League and nearly end the world champions’ fragile hopes.

Juve lead Milan by six points and have a game in hand against Parma and Camoranesi is pleased with their position.

“We have a good advantage,” he declared. “Whatever happens on Saturday, we will be ahead and it won’t be easy for them to catch us.

"A victory would feel like a turning point and while mathematically nothing is decided yet, in reality everything is almost certain.

“We will play to win. A draw would see us maintain our lead, but only a victory can widen the gap.”

Despite the Diavolo’s troubles this term, Camoranesi has respect for the opposition.

“Milan are still a very competitive side and they have players who can turn a game at any point,” the Argentine warned.

“Furthermore, they have welcomed back Kaka and he is a man who can make a difference.

“I hope that this isn’t the last time I play against Paolo Maldini, as he is an example and should keep playing.”

Juve lost 3-2 to Palermo last weekend, but they were unlucky to lose a game that they had bossed for significant periods.

“We played well in spite of the defeat,” Camoranesi insisted. “Palermo never dominated and that is the most important thing.

“What happened to us in the first half? Perhaps we didn’t pick up our rhythm in the opening minutes.

“When we scored we had to impose ourselves on the game and we managed to turn things around. We wouldn’t have been lucky to win.

“From now on we are taking each game as it comes and looking to see whether we can finish second.

“Seven points is a big gap and it will be difficult as Roma aren’t making any mistakes.

“The difference between second and third place is just a few days of holiday. The important thing is to return to the Champions League so that we can take on the best sides in Europe.”

Camo concluded with a brief summary of his personal progress since shrugging off the injuries that blighted the first part of the season.

“I am happy because I have been able to work consistently over this last period of the season and I am improving physically,” he said.

“I can be available to play in the middle, but I do prefer the wing. It would take a long time to become better as a central midfielder and there are lots of players who can do it better than I can, like Tiago Mendes.”

Wing commander

Mauro Camoranesi has proved his worth in recent weeks. Antonio Labbate praises Juventus’ unsung hero

Where would Juventus have been without Mauro Camoranesi in 2007-08? It’s a query worth pondering, especially when you take into account what kind of form the South American has been in this term. But the real question, given the extent of the winger’s scintillating performances, is what more could the Old Lady have achieved had he been available to them all season?

It has been a campaign of two halves for the former Verona player. Held back by niggling injuries in the early part, only in the final few months of the campionato has he been able to fully serve the Juve cause. His appearance against Lazio on Sunday was just his 20th from a possible 35 League games, a tally which has potentially cost the club some valuable points.

That statement is purely hypothetical of course, but one must take into account just what Camoranesi has added to the Bianconeri’s Champions League push. He’s ‘only’ scored five goals – two of which were against Inter – but he’s developed into an accomplished goal maker in the final straight.

It was the 31-year-old who grabbed all three assists in the 3-2 win over Milan, he then provided two more in the 3-0 over Parma and got another treble – as well as a goal – in the 5-2 destruction of Lazio at the weekend. That victory ensured a top four finish, but with Roma just five points ahead in second there will be a touch of regret amongst the most demanding fans in Turin.

Claudio Ranieri is clearly aware of Mauro’s ability and the tactician has done nothing to hide his admiration for the international. “Camoranesi is the key to everything,” said the Juve boss. “He is a player who gives me the opportunity to change the shape of the team. He’s a universal midfielder, a godsend. He’s a playmaker who adores the wing, but he’s also one who is more than willing to sacrifice himself for the team.”

That’s high praise indeed for an individual who is often belittled for not singing the Italian national anthem and a man who clearly had difficulties in accepting the fact that Juventus just wouldn’t let him leave after demotion. Some questioned the club’s faith in him at the time, but no more. Camoranesi, as he has proved, is just as important as any in that black and white shirt.

You sometimes forget just how good Camo is when he is missing, he comes back and that extra bit of quality and work rate makes all the difference, never mind the large amount of goal assists he has this season in a campaign blighted by several niggling injuries.

He will be vital even more so next year in the CL when a bit of individual quality goes a long way, at 31 he is playing as well as he ever has, he has come to that same age as Nedved was at his most efficient, using all his experience.
JuveJay
Camo has extended his contract to 2011.
JuveJay
There is more bad injury news for Juventus, as Mauro Camoranesi is out until 2009 after dislocating his shoulder.

The midfielder fell heavily on to his right shoulder during the opening minutes of Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Reggina.

Despite barely being able to move his arm, he insisted on carrying on and even scored the opening goal.

However, at half-time doctors were able to inspect it carefully and discovered he had dislocated it.

While not completely knocked out of joint, it is still an injury that will keep Camoranesi out of action for at least three weeks.

This means his 2008 is over and he will not be able to play again until the new year, when Gianluigi Buffon and David Trezeguet are also expected back.

It has been a disastrous few months for Camoranesi, who has suffered a series of injury setbacks.

No, Ranieri will use Marchionni or Salihamidžić in Camo's place over Gio. Gio can play striker or he can cover Nedveds place. However I think after yesterdays performance Gio might of convinced Ranieri to give him a starting spot over Marchisio in the central mid. That is until Poulsen, Tiago or Zanetti get better.

i just see that he is better than Marchionni or Salihamidzic 2 replace Camoranesi
JuveJay
He will play Marchionni. Marco is a very good player but Camo is world class and we are a better team with him in the side. Gio will play more in the second half of the season when tiredness needs attending.
AlexRossi
I agree with you Jay. Camoranesi is world class. People dont rate very highly of him and I beleave he is one of the most underrated players out there. Juventus is a different team with him on.

However I always thought that the Right Mid positions on our squad is one of our week points. Sure we are good when Camo can play but when he does not its not good. With the 4-4-2 formation with 2 defensive mids that Ranieri plays all of our creativity has to come from the wings. Juve fans out there that think we will go for Diago or Alonso or another attacking Mid have to realize that there is no room in the squad for these players because of the formation we play. Anways I dont think we have the proper player to fill in for Camo. Marchionni like you say is a good player but he does not provide that little bit of creative spark we need coming down the wings. We are just far too defensive when he plays and we saw that during the Inter game. Salihamidžić is good but I find him a little bit inconsistent and he is inguyr prown along with Marchionni.

I think Juventus shoul sell Marchionni to a smaller club were he can be in the starting 11 and Juve should make a move for a Right winger that can fill in for Camo and provide that little bit of creativity. The best choice for this player would be Napolis Christian Maggio. However, he is too good to not be in the starting 11. Maybe İnler can be bought from Udinese and we can transform him into a right winger.

I also do not think that Juventus should make a move for Schweinsteiger. I would rather keep Camo as he is World Class and he is a proven player in Serie A. And I cant see Schweinsteiger and Camo being on the same team with each other.
ZUMO
world class yikes.gif

JuveJay
I cannot think of many better right wingers around. When he plays he just has that extra class about him, his technique and crossing are up there with the best, he is excellent at dribbling as well. His temparement lets him down and his injuries as well.

Robben

Schweisteiger
Quaresma
Robinho
Navas

Messi and Ronaldo are better then him but he is on par with Schweisteiger. Quaresma is shit and has never done anything, Robinho
is a striker/support striker and Camo is way more consistent then Robben.
AlexRossi
Zumo just a question for you. Do you actually watch Juventus and notice the difference to the team when he does and when he does not play? Or did you only really see Camo play on the international stage.
ZUMO
Don't watch Juventus enough domestically to judge. I'm not saying he isn't good or anything, just got a bit surprised when JJ said he is WC earlier in this thread, never really thought of him that way.

When I've seen him in WC/EC/CL earlier he has always struck me as quite an anonymous teamwork oriented player.

He is not only a team player, he is a luxury player in our side too.

Camoranesi Back For Juventus - Milan Showdown?

Good news for club and player as his injury isn't serious and he could be back in time to face Il Diavolo...

Juventus have been boosted by the news that Mauro Camoranesi could return for their pre-Christmas showdown clash with Milan.

The Italo-Argentine midfielder had to come off the pitch against Reggina after landing awkwardly on his shoulder.

Camoranesi underwent further tests on Monday afternoon but the extent of his injury is not as serious as first thought by the club's doctors.

A scan revealed a dislocation to one of the bones in his clavical- a part of the shoulder.

The injury is only a light one and the midfielder is expected to be back in action before the Christmas break. If he recovers well enough then he may even make the game against the Rossoneri scheduled to take place on December 14th.

However, coach Claudio Ranieri is unlikely to rush the player back from injury.

Juve are six points behind league leaders Inter and they could cut that down to three if they beat Lecce this weekend.

Blog: Angel with a dirty face

After his red card against Genoa last week, Giovanni Spinella reflects on the thin red line of madness that has shadowed Mauro Camoranesi’s career

In the late 1950s, Juventus fielded a legendary Italo-Argentine player whose technique and talent were as famous as his temper was notorious. This was Omar Sivori, whose combination of skill and nastiness earned him the nickname “Angel with a dirty face”.

Mauro Camoranesi follows in Sivori’s footsteps. This gifted winger is easily one of the best of his generation. On the right – but even on the left or from the centre – Camo excels in skipping and avoiding opposition players and delivering millimetre-precise crosses into the box where strikers such as David Trezeguet are eager to pounce.

But all genius carries with it an element of madness – a dark shadow that follows and complements the shining talent. So it has been for Camoranesi over the years. British football fans will recall how he was sent off in the Champions League tie against Arsenal back in 2006.

One of the most notable incidents of his temper dates back to November 2005 in a home game against Livorno. Camoranesi came on as a substitute at the 17th minute of the first half and started bickering with striker Cristiano Lucarelli – fouling him from behind and getting yellow-carded. Seeing Camoranesi’s temper getting the better of him, then manager Fabio Capello called him off at the 40th minute to avoid the player getting sent off.

Camoranesi’s temper is every bit as real as his skill. So too is his edgy style of play – where the one-on-one gamesmanship he is so good at also includes degree of rough and tumble that referees over the years have become less inclined to forgive. His recent sending-off against Genoa was an honest error on his part but in the past other fouls have been committed with much less honesty and much more silent rage.

On Saturday Juventus will be facing Inter in a game that will have little impact on the title-race – already decided in the Nerazzurri’s favour – but that still figures heavily in Juventini’s minds. A win could restore a lot of confidence in a side whose remaining objectives are a second place in Serie A and maybe the Coppa Italia.

But the Bianconeri are going to be facing the game without one of their few remaining players who can still make the difference on the pitch. Camoranesi’s inability to deal with the darker side of his nature could end up costing not only himself but his club as well.

http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_ita...blogs/gs40.html

----------------

We know what we get with Camo, just have to deal with it. Him missing Inter was potentially a big blow but the game has become indecisive now so it doesn't matter as much.

Camoranesi out for three months?

Juventus star Mauro Camoranesi could be out of action for up to three months after sustaining a right thigh strain.

The winger limped off just eight minutes after coming on to the field as a substitute in last night's 3-1 defeat to Bari.

Reports this evening suggest that the first tests performed at the Fornaca clinic in Turin found a lesion in the right thigh and intramuscular bruising.

Over the next few days there will be further tests to allow medical staff to work out the extent of the problem.

Tuttosport newspaper expresses fears that he could be ruled out of action for up to three months.

Camoranesi has a history of muscular problems and his absence would also be a blow for Italy's World Cup preparations.

At the same clinic this morning Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon underwent surgery to correct a meniscus problem in his knee.

The shot-stopper will be sidelined for around six weeks.

Camo could miss World Cup

Mauro Camoranesi's injury is a lot worse than Juventus originally thought meaning the tricky little winger could miss the World Cup next summer.

The 33-year-old came on as a second half substitute against Bari on Saturday, but a clash with an opponent meant he had to be replaced just 10 minutes later.

He suffered a torn muscle in his right thigh and was expected to be out for two months following surgical intervention.

However, it now appears the muscle is so badly damaged it needs rebuilding rather than simply recomposing, making Camoranesi a serious doubt for Italy's trip to South Africa next summer.

It will be three months at best before Camoranesi can start training with his team-mates and even longer before he recovers his match fitness.

Italy boss Marcello Lippi is expected to wait on Camoranesi just as he did on Francesco Totti when the Roma captain suffered an injury that put his participation in the 2006 World Cup in doubt.

Meanwhile, the Juventus midfield will also be without Christian Poulsen against Catania this weekend after the League's disciplinary commissioner handed him a one-game suspension.

Camo agent blames Juve medics

Mauro Camoranesi’s agent has blamed Juventus medical staff for a serious injury, “but he will be ready for the World Cup.”

The 2006 winner pulled up during last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Bari and has now been diagnosed with a serious muscular tear which some say will keep him out until April.

“I think it’s more likely that he will be back in March, but it’s difficult to make assumptions right now. In any case, he is not worried about the World Cup, he’ll be ready,” said Sergio Fortunato on calciomercato.it.

It did not seem to be a particularly serious problem at first, but Fortunato reveals mistakes and delays that contributed to the injury.

“I am not a specialist, but I contacted some Argentine medics who are professionals in this sector and they told me in cases like this you need to suck out the blood to reduce the bruising.

“This was not done. They tried doing it 10 hours later, but it was far too late, as by that time the blood had coagulated. Mauro’s leg was like an egg, it was visibly swollen and full, they should’ve removed the blood.

“I spoke to Mauro last night, he’s feeling alright, albeit certainly a bit angry. He came off the bench with 10 minutes to go, Juventus were already losing and then he picked up this injury.”

Now Camoranesi could require surgery to reconstruct the muscle where the tear occurred, something that would extend his time off the field.

“I don’t know anything about the possibility of an operation, Juventus haven’t told me about that. I will call Alessio Secco and ask to be kept constantly informed.”

This would not be the first time that Juve’s medical staff have been under fire, as last season a series of muscular problems affected the squad.

The problem has not gone away, as Alessandro Del Piero missed most of the campaign so far, while Momo Sissoko, Hasan Salihamidzic and Vincenzo Iaquinta are currently sidelined.

Camoranesi set to leave Juve

Mauro Camoranesi looks certain to leave Juventus this summer after his agent was told that he no longer figures in the club's plans.

The 33-year-old Italy international midfielder has been in Turin since 2002 when he arrived from Hellas Verona.

Speaking to Tuttosport, his agent said: “I have received a request from the directors to find Mauro a new arrangement.

“He no longer enters the club's plans.”

Camoranesi has attracted a great deal of interest from France over the last year.

Marseille have been mentioned in the same breath as Camoranesi, partly because Didier Deschamps, the former Juventus boss, is in charge at the Velodrome.

Camoranesi exit certain

Mauro Camoranesi will definitely leave Juventus this summer after eight years in Turin, according to his agent.

The 33-year-old Italy international will be part of an extensive clear out at the Stadio Olimpico as Juventus bid to rebuild their squad.

Speaking to calciomercato.it, Camoranesi's agent, Sergio Fortunato said: “The cycle at Juventus is finished.

“At the end of the season, I will meet Alessio Secco and we will try and reach an agreement to find an arrangement that will suit Mauro.

“For now, we are not speaking about teams. I will begin to move in the next 10 days when the season more less finishes everywhere in Europe to see if there is a solution for the good of Juventus and Mauro.

“We are talking about a player who will play at the World Cup. It's obvious that it will take a good team [to persuade him to leave], otherwise we will honour the contract with the Bianconeri,” he concluded.

Juventus GM Beppe Marotta has told Mauro Camoranesi it's time to move on.
"We have explained to him that Juve will always be grateful to him but there comes a time to turn the page," he said.

Huntelaar set for Juve switch?
Wednesday 28 July, 2010
Juventus would apparently be prepared to do a deal with Milan whereby Mauro Camoranesi and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar would swap places.

Tuttosport understands that Juventus are still planning to sign a target man if their efforts to lure Edin Dzeko away from Wolfsburg fail.

Camoranesi is on the transfer list in Turin, although the 33-year-old has intimated that he will see out the remaining year of his contract unless an attractive offer arrives.

So far, he has turned down a move to Olympiacos, much to the disdain of Juventus' fans who realise that certain fringe players must leave if new talent is to arrive.

However, it's no secret that Camoranesi would consider a move to Milan. In fact, he was linked with the Rossoneri only last month following a meeting between Beppe Marotta and Adriano Galliani.

Huntelaar is on the fringes of Milan's squad after a poor first season at San Siro and the Holland international striker has been linked with moves to the Premier League, Turkey and French champions Marseille.

Tuttosport believes Marotta will offer Camoranesi in exchange to part-own Huntelaar.
LOL! Camoranesi for Huntelaar... that would be the deal of the century from a Juve perspective. Sounds like just pure speculation.
