Lorenzo Ariaudo is an accomplished young central defender who became an integral part of the success of Juventus' youth sides over the last few years. Now 19 he has progressed into the first team squad where he made his debut in Juventus 1-1 second leg draw in Slovakia against Artmedia in the Champions League this season. He later featured in the friendly match against AS Monaco at the start of 2009 and won the man of the match award in that game ahead of more illustrious teammates and opponents with his confident and mature display at the back.

Later on that month he made his first domestic appearance with another assured display in the 3-0 victory at home to Catania in the Coppa Italia.

Ariaudo was loaned to Cagliari during the 2010 winter transfer window and went on to make 9 league appearances, with a mixed degree of success.

It looks like Ariaudo will start in the game against Lazio, so a real baptism of fire for the lad in Serie A. However the club have really high hopes for the lad and he has certainly looked the business when I have seen him play. For a young defender at such a big team though he has to not make any mistakes which is nearly impossible, so he needs Mellberg to help him out, although Ariaudo himself has good leadership skills.

what a big game to start. lets hope nerve doesnt get the best of him..

Very impressive Serie A debut for Lorenzo against Lazio. We won't get too carried away but he seems to have a lot of good technical attributes to go with his size, but also what strikes you is how, like all of the players that come through the Juventus system, he is professional when he speaks, isn't arrogant and wants to work hard. Contrast that with a certain other big club and we obviously do things the right way wink.gif

I think Ariaudo has a good future if he works hard and gets the chances. He is really a baby at 19 to be playing for Juventus at all, most youth products don't even get a look in until 21-22.

Looks like Ariaudo will be joining Livorno on loan for the season, we should heard more in the coming days.

Obviously with Caceres coming in there was less space, but a Serie A club is a good loan move for him at such a young age. Livorno are going to struggle so he will learn a lot, hopefully he plays often and I think he will as he has quality and calmness about him. Livorno have a lot of veteran players who will help him out I'm sure.

Going to Cagliari on loan now? Good move for him, decent Serie A side.

I think he has a chance at being a good defender, maybe even for Juve one day.

Ariaudo could join Cagliari

Promising Juventus centre-back Lorenzo Ariaudo could be loaned out to Cagliari in January, according to David Torchia, the player's agent.

The 20-year-old made four appearances for the Bianconeri last season, but is unlikely to dislodge Fabio Cannavaro or Giorgio Chiellini anytime soon.

Juventus are keen to keep hold of Ariaudo, but want him to develop, so they are reportedly offering him on loan to Cagliari.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Torchia said: “With all probability Ariaudo will leave in January. The lad needs to play with more continuity.

“I believe that Juve will send him on loan and not sell him outright seeing his young age. It's difficult to deprive yourself of a player with these prospects.”

Asked if Ariaudo would be going to Cagliari, Torchia replied: “It's a good destination. It will depend on Cagliari. This summer he was a step from joining them. Now we'll see.”

Should be a good move for him, he needs to play and is good enough for Serie A even at his age.

Official: Juve's Ariaudo to Cagliari

Cagliari have signed young defender Lorenzo Ariaudo on loan from Juventus, but it could lead to a permanent move.

The 20-year-old had already been close to joining the Sardinians in the summer, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

Now that the Bianconeri are out of the Champions League and Ariaudo has barely played all season, the club opted to release him.

However, there are already reports that this is more than a mere loan spell to gain Serie A experience.

Cagliari are eager to make the signing permanent and in fact announced they have Ariaudo on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

“Ariaudo will start training sessions with Cagliari from tomorrow,” read a statement on the club website.

An option to buy, ridiculous from our board. He is a very talented kid and it wouldn't surprise me to see him get around the Italy squad in the future, good luck to him at Cagliari even if we should have used him more so far.

Ariaudo made his debut for Cagliari against Parma, played well and Cagliari kept a clean sheet:

Ariaudo 6.5 - Nonostante la sua giovane età dimostra grande carattere e molta determinazione.

"Despite his age he demonstrated a lot of character and determination"
