He is a little older then I would like but he is easily Italy's best LB. He can do a perfect job for the next 2-3 years until De Ceglie is ready to become a regular starter. He can attack and do wonderful crosses along with being a solid defender. We can get him for cheap. I think he is the perfect option for now.

Juve consider Pasqual
Juventus are moving their attention away from Lyon full-back Fabio Grosso and toward Fiorentina's Manuel Pasqual, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Bianconeri are in the market for a left-back, as Cristian Molinaro is out until October at the earliest and Paolo De Ceglie is also struggling with injury.
De Ceglie is likely to be fit in time for the new season, but Juventus are said to be looking for someone with greater experience in Europe.
In that respect, Grosso is the outstanding candidate, having competed in the Champions League with Lyon since 2007.
Lest we forget, Grosso was also a crucial member of the Italy side that won the World Cup in Germany three years ago.
However, Grosso will be 32 in November and another target, the highly rated Lazio full-back Aleksandar Kolarov, costs too much.
Consequently, attention has turned to Pasqual, whose contract with Fiorentina expires in 2010, making him relatively cheap.
The 27-year-old isn't thought to be pursuing a renewal as he has played little this season and is now said to be looking for a new challenge.
Juventus have already contacted his agent and are negotiating a price that will not exceed £5m, according to La Gazzetta.
Pasqual joined Fiorentina from Arezzo in 2005 and has made 95 appearances for the Viola. He also has two caps for Italy.
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun02d.html-------------------------
I would take Pasqual in a second for that price. He was class at Fiorentina then they strangely bought Vargas who hasn't been that great at left back. Pasqual is pretty good at defending but in attack he is excellent at getting forward and getting the ball in, he could work well in our new formation.

D'Ago set for Juve
Juventus are expected to sign Udinese midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino by the end of this week, according to the Italian Press.
The 26-year-old former Roma youngster has been a revelation this season, scoring 11 Serie A goals in 36 appearances for the Zebrette.
Juventus are believed to have offered £15m for D'Agostino, who was called up to the Italy squad in November 2008.
Udinese President Giampaolo Pozzo confirmed Juventus' interest in the player during an interview yesterday evening.
“I hope that someone doesn't come and unsettle him, but Juventus are interested,” Pozzo revealed.
Juventus have already been active in the transfer market, signing Fabio Cannavaro from Real Madrid and Diego from Werder Bremen.
The Bianconeri finished second in Serie A this year and are looking to close the gap between themselves and Italian champions Inter.
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun02g.html---------------
Some people think he is not quite good enough for Juventus, but he has always impressed me ever since he came through at Roma as a kid. Add in this season he has 11 goals from central midfield, mostly from set pieces, and is also top or near the top of the league passing ratio, tackling and crossing stats, he has had a great season.
If we do sign him then hopefully it won't be for £15m though, that is too much.
How many midfielders do we really need though? I think Poulsen, Tiago and Almiron will all have to be sold. I hope we still have money for fullbacks.

I read something funny on another forum. When Davids was at Juventus, you probably remember that he had a year left and Roma were trying to sign him, well they offered Daniele De Rossi, Alberto Aquilani and Gaetano D'Agostino plus 10m Lira for Davids but Moggi wanted 15m Lira

I know it's not the same because those three were just young lads with potential and wouldn't have reached the level they had now in probability because they would be on the bench but imagine that deal now

Jun 6 2009, 03:55 PM
“It is true that Juve are interested in D’Agostino, but concrete proposals have not yet been offered,” President Giampaolo Pozzo told TeleNordest.
“In any case, we are not interested in receiving cash. What we would like to bring in are player exchanges.
“If Juve want him, then they must put on the plate two from this list: Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie. It will be a very tough battle.”
The creative midfielder is a product of the Roma youth system and was once considered the new Francesco Totti, but at Udinese was revamped as a deep-lying playmaker.
Now the player who just turned 27 this week is on the transfer wish-list for the Bianconeri.
“He is one of the best midfielders in Europe and is younger than Andrea Pirlo, so his value is around £28m.”

D'Agostino: Juve, I'm ready
Gaetano D’Agostino confirms he is on the verge of signing for Juventus within the next couple of days.
“I said I wanted a big club and Juve are among the biggest,” smiled the Udinese midfielder.
The 27-year-old made his senior international debut in Italy’s 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland last night.
New Bianconeri Coach Ciro Ferrara was Marcello Lippi’s assistant manager until Friday, when he received the call from Turin and left the training camp.
“When Ferrara left the other day, he winked at me as he went out the door,” revealed D’Agostino.
Udinese are not so certain they want to release their star midfielder, having valued him at £28m.
President Giampaolo Pozzo has requested “two out of these players in exchange: Sebastian Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie.”
Although Giovinco is unlikely to be released, the other two youth products are potentially on the market.

D'Ago almost a Juventino Gaetano D'Agostino is waiting for the outcome of a meeting between Udinese and Juventus today, which will ultimately decide his future.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant season for Udinese, scoring 11 goals in 36 appearances.
Juventus are believed to have had an offer accepted for the Italy international, but some details need to be ironed out before the transfer goes through.
“The two clubs will meet today and I don't want to put myself in the middle of them. I await their decision calmly,” D'Agostino told Sky Italia.
“Udine will always be the city that has given me the most in my little career. They bought me when I still had a lot to prove. They waited for me in my first year.
“I have achieved good results for two years now and I owe a lot to Coach Pasquale Marino, who has given me a lot.
“The objectives, the pressure and the players will all change with Juve. There are little difficulties that I will face calmly like I did my debut with La Nazionale. I feel mature,” he explained.
D'Agostino also had words of respect for Ciro Ferrara, Italy's assistant trainer, who recently took charge of Juventus on a full time basis.
“Ferrara has not said anything to me. He has a superb relationship with the players of the national team. On a charismatic level he has great drive.
“If Juve have chosen to give Ferrara the top job it means to say that he is a great trainer,” D'Agostino concluded.
http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun8l.html---------------------
The meeting is currently ongoing, I'll update as news comes out.
Udinese are still trying to get Giovinco or Marchisio as part of the deal which is out of the question. What looks more likely is that Juventus will give Udinese De Ceglie and Paolucci's other half plus a bit more money. What will happen then is that Juventus will bring back Criscito from Genoa as a replacement for De Ceglie and possible starter. It would be sad to see any good youth product go but Criscito is also one and he is a better player overall so Juve would be strengthening all-round.

I don't really know, sometimes you have to take a hit to benefit the team but it is hard to get so many young players regular games. I like D'Agostino but I'm not sure we desperately need him. However it remains clear from what Secco said today that we will certainly be buying a central midfielder, whether that is D'Ago or someone else.

Pozzo: D'Ago will play for Juve Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo has revealed he has yet to reach an agreement with Juventus for Gaetano D'Agostino but insists the player will move to Turin.
Udinese representatives met their Juventus counterparts yesterday to iron out a deal for the talented goalscoring midfielder, who is currently on international duty.
However, the two parties apparently came to an impasse when discussing the player's value, delaying the transfer indefinitely.
“We are satisfied with the player, but there is no agreement on the money,” Pozzo said. “D'Agostino will play for Juve, though.”
According to Tuttosport, Juventus' offer is £7m short of Udinese's asking price.
The Bianconeri are said to be thinking about making a new offer, which would include Michele Paolucci and 50 per cent of Paolo De Ceglie plus £5m in cash.

“It does not depend on me, but on the two clubs. Speaking with Pozzo some weeks ago we expressed our thoughts, which, if anything else, were very similar, so I am calm.
“Negotiations take time. In light of this, I would certainly define myself as calm,” D'Agostino added before allowing himself to dream of playing for Juve.
“To think I might be in the Juventus midfield with Diego, Sissoko, Marchisio and Camoranesi. They are all great players.
“You feel calm because, seeing the quality, you are in an iron barrel. They know how to manage the ball and have great experience that can be transferred to me.
“I am not a boy who makes throwaway comments. I only say what I think. For me, Juve would be a great opportunity, something to take pride in because in the last two years I have tried to build a better future for myself.

D'Agostino to Juve 'uphill struggle' Gaetano D'Agostino's transfer to Juventus is now “an uphill struggle,” announced Udinese directors.
The Italian international was all set to make the move to Turin, but problems arose when they failed to reach an agreement over which players to exchange.
“The negotiations for D'Agostino's switch to Juventus has entered an impasse that it is difficult to get out of,” Udinese director general Sergio Gasparin told Radio Radio.
“When we pin-pointed the players we were interested in, Juve put up obstacles. Therefore it is an uphill struggle now to complete this sale.
“We did not want to release D'Agostino anyway, but unfortunately when a big club like Juventus makes an offer, it is our duty to approach it the right way.”
Udinese had stated they wanted two out of these three players as part of the deal - Sebastian Giovinco, Claudio Marchisio and Paolo De Ceglie.

“Dossena and Grosso? I can only say that these are not names far from the reality of our wish-list,”
“Right now we are waiting for Genoa’s decision on [Domenico] Criscito, as they have until June 25 to take up their option.
“We did look at [Stuttgart defender Serdar] Tasci two months ago, but since securing Cannavaro he is no longer a player that interests us. Besides, he won’t be a free agent.”

Acquafresca set for young Juve
Robert Acquafresca could be the latest addition to Juventus’ bright young team after he was rejected by Inter.
“It makes me very proud, I never would’ve imagined a club of that calibre being interested in me,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I wish to make clear I never demanded a regular first team spot, just the chance to challenge for a place with everyone.”
The Cagliari striker scored an impressive 14 Serie A goals this season, but that was not enough for Jose Mourinho to recall him to San Siro.
He has been handed over to Genoa as part of the deal bringing Thiago Motta and Diego Milito to Inter, but does not have a space in the Rossoblu squad.
“This is one of those classic situations in which one door closes and another opens up,” added Acquafresca.
