Born in Somalia, Daud moved to Cuneo, Italy with his family at the age of 5, joining the Juventus youth sector in 2000 and making his debut with the Primavera (Under-20) squad in the 2007–08 season.

Daud was part of the Juventus squad in the 2009 Torneo di Viareggio, where he was praised as one of the best footballers of the tournament. He also managed to score 8 goals in that tournament, thus being named top scorer for the Torneo di Viareggio this season. On March 14, 2009 he made his first team debut with Juventus, replacing Sebastian Giovinco during the final minutes of a Serie A 4–1 win over Bologna.

Daud signed a new contract in March 2009 tying him to Juventus until 2013.

Ayub Daud grabbed plenty of column inches during the recent Viareggio Carnival Cup, one of the most important youth competitions in Italy.

The Somali hitman was the top scorer of the tournament, scoring 8 goals, and lead the Juventus Primavera side to their sixth triumph in Tuscany.
Daud’s efforts soon attracted interest from a host of European sides and the Old Lady acted swiftly at the start of this week to tie him down to his first professional deal.

“It was a great pleasure to sign for Juve because they welcomed me when I was 9-year-old,” Daud told Calciomercato.it.

“They are like my second home and I was always hoping to get a contract here because I wanted to remain a Bianconero. [Sporting director Alessio] Secco complimented me for my achievements in Viareggio and then said we would have to meet at the club’s headquarters.

“Juve are always Juve. They are impeccable in everything they do, that is their style, the technical aspect is undisputed, as is their tradition. They always tell us: we are Juve, if you come in second, you will have failed.”

The 19-year-old was born in Somalia and has represented the country at Under-21 level, however, he has lived in Italy since he was 5 and could one day opt to play for the Azzurri.

“My dream is to wear the shirt of my national side - Somalia,” he mused.

“But it would not be that bad to wear the Italian jersey. Italy has raised me…”

Daud loaned to Crotone

Another of the precious components of the Juventus youth sector is ready to delve into professional football. Ayub Daud is off to gain experience in the very competitive Serie B championship. Juventus have loaned him out to Crotone, a team which has just been promoted.

The attacker from Somalia, born in 1990 (on the 24th February), can boast of nine years experience in the Juventus nursery. During these years he left his mark on important victories, like the Trofeo Arco di Trento in 2007 (in which he scored 2 goals in the final against Milan) or the last edition of the Viareggio Cup, which he ended as top scorer of the tournament.

On the 14th of March of last season he made his debut in the Serie A during the last minutes of the match against Bologna.

I think Serie B is the right level for him at his age, he is only 19 still but has a lot of talent. Crotone will be fighting in the bottom half in my opinion next year and we will see what he is made of.

I'll keep an eye on his progress and post in this thread.
Proud to be Leeds
He needs to work on his pose.

He is too gangster to pose, he just is.

He has come back from Crotone. He got a bad injury (wasn't even training at Vinovo either!) and didn't make much of an impression, doesn't look too positive for him right now but he clearly has talent and the next move he makes needs to go better.

Edit: He is now at Lumezzane in Lega Pro Prima....
