Ultras to Balotelli: "We're not racist"

The Juventus ultras group Drughi have released a statement explaining why their insults towards Mario Balotelli “were not racist and we won’t apologise.”

The club has been hit by a one-match ban behind closed doors after supporters in the Curva Filadelfia repeatedly hurled racist insults at Inter striker Balotelli during Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Juve released a statement apologising for this behaviour, but now the Drughi Ultras have issued their own Press release.

“We will not apologise to Balotelli, because the chants against him were a response to his provocation and general attitude on the pitch and not with regards to his origins,” announced the Drughi-Juventus Club Curva Filadelfia.

“This is evident by the fact that his teammates Patrick Vieira and Sulley Muntari were not even jeered at all.

“For years now in almost every stadium Juve are greeted by chants of ‘Liverpool, Liverpool’, while the names of (deceased former players) Gaetano Scirea, Riccardo Neri, Alessio Ferramosca and Andrea Fortunato have been used and abused in every conceivable way, yet the media was never indignant about that.

“Racism is nothing to do with this and it was only a way, albeit debatable, to make our opponent lose his concentration,”
insisted the Drughi group of fans.

“We would like to point out in our squad is an ‘ebony icon’ Momo Sissoko, who we hold in our hearts and are proud that he wears our shirt.

“This is why we do not feel the need to apologise. Juve-Lecce will be played behind closed doors because it had already been decided.

“Instead of a lesson in efficiency and because you cannot warn an entire stadium, the authorities opted for the radical solution.”

I did say that in the other thread that is was to get at the player rather than an example of widespread racism, but when you chant "There is no such thing as a black Italian" then it is obviously going to be taken as a racist comment. They would be better off just jeering him next time.

But yes, double standards. When they shout 'Zlatan zingaro' (Zlatan gypsy) no-one bats an eyelid, when it seems any form of insulting chanting is allowed around grounds as long as it doesn't involve black players and/or Inter.

To mock two young kids that drowned or great players who died tragically is just sick.

Chants against Balo at Juve-Udinese

A section of Juventus fans in both the curva nord and curva sud sang distasteful chants against Inter striker Mario Balotelli, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The incident happened during Juventus' match with Udinese on Sunday night and perhaps serves as a warning to Balotelli ahead of Inter's trip to Turin on December 5.

The 19-year-old striker was abused at the Olimpico last season, sparking a debate about whether the chants were racist or not.

Yesterday's chants of “if you jump, Balotelli dies” were so loud the loudspeaker actually repeated a “no to racism” announcement three times.

However, as there was no reference to the colour of his skin, La Gazzetta dello Sport is unsure whether any official sanction can be taken against the fans.

After the game, Juventus boss Ciro Ferrara said: “I am against any kind of insult and racial discrimination, but if we go to football grounds we shouldn't be surprised, as there are insults in all the stadiums.

“I have been a player and still remember the chant “let the Vesuvius burn them all”. I remember it and it hurts me. It's true that the public pays, but they don't have any right to offend people.”

Very distasteful, but nothing racist about it, they just hate the cunt. The press can twist it all they want. It's a warm up for the next home game - Inter. The thing is he'll probably score, so I don't see the point of it.

“While Balotelli was in Barcelona preparing for a Champions League match, in an Italian stadium people were saying things against him,” claimed the Inter boss.

“We will see what will happen. I would like to play Juventus-Inter in Turin, but there are rules and so it is possible that this game will be played elsewhere,”
- Jose Mourinho

Yeah, should have been a 6 game stadium ban I think Jose lol, fucking tard.

Juve got fined €20,000, worth it really for singing songs about Balotelli lol.

Apparently a section of Juve fans sung about a negro not being Italian again, at the Bordeaux game. Pierluigi Casiraghi come out and said that the comments are not due to his race - which of course they are not because else every black player would be subject to the same abuse - but because he grates on people. Having said that, using chants about there being no such thing as a black Italian is not acceptable, because it generalises. I don't have a problem with 'if you jump, Balotelli dies'. It's a bit of poetic genius and a catchy as hell song, and Balotelli is a cunt. When Inter fans are allowed sing disgusting songs about the Juve youth players drowning, do you think we give a fuck about singing little ditties about Balotelli that get the crowd going? So all together now - Se saltelli, muore Balotelli! Se saltelli, muore Balotelli! hahaha.gif

Javier Zanetti reckons he is going to walk off the pitch if Balotelli is racially abused in Turin, well of course he would, because Inter always take the cowards way to try and win trophies. He didn't have a problem with Balotelli suffering monkey chants at Bologna last weekend though, funny that. This whole episode has been heightened by Inter personnel and the Milan press, it's a tiny little story but anything that can make Juve suffer you can bet they will do. There isn't anything else the club can do.

Juve curva closed after racist chants

The League's disciplinary commissioner has decided to close Juventus's curva for one match after a section of the club's fans were heard singing racist chants.

Inter striker Mario Balotelli was once again the subject of the songs during Juventus's 3-0 victory over Napoli in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night.

The curva sud will be closed on January 23 when Juventus host Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

It's not the first time this season Juventus have got into trouble over a section of their supporters abusing Balotelli.

The club even wrote an open letter to the fans ahead of December's Derby d'Italia after some of them were heard singing, “If you jump, Balotelli dies,” during Juventus's matches against Udinese and Bordeaux.

The Bianconeri were fined for the incident but the measures taken by the League disciplinary commissioner show no sign of being an adequate deterrent.

Racist chants my arse, any excuse to punish Juve. They might as well leave it closed all season because they won't stop singing it. Fuck all racist about it. Because the Juve Curva loudly sings 'se saltelli, muore Balotelli' because he is a hate figure it is 'racist chanting' in a televised game it is punishable with a ban, yet when Inter, Chievo, Lazio fans or whoever has been guilty recently make monkey chants there is nothing. Hilariously biased, by a commission that is run by Inter fans. Fact. The Curva Scirea are sticking two fingers up to the authorities, it's a load of nonsense, they are so fucking scared about it being intepreted as racist, when many ultra supporters target Balotelli because he is a tosser. The Curva had a trial run on Weds anyway, where they left the stand empty in protest at the board lol.

Disgraceful behaviour, relegate them to Serie B...

So juve fans are banned or just a section of the stadium is banned ?

Just the Curva Scirea.

Like some other Juventini have said, where were the stadium bans when we sung about Cufré, or Cordoba, or Di Natale, or all the other guys who have been a target of our ultras over the years? Now let's factor in how many insulting chants that come from other teams, hundreds. Just for Juve we have heard Inter fans chanting about our two youth team players who drowned. It doesn't get any more disgusting. What happened to Inter? Nothing. What happens to other teams who actually make racist chants? Maybe a small fine for 1 in 5 clubs.

Juve have now been fined twice and had a curva ban for singing 'if you jump, Balotelli dies' under racism rules. Crock of shit. If they want to term it as offensive then ok, but don't just punish Juve you corrupt fucks. They'll just keeping singing it until they stop punishing Juve, it has become something of an in-joke and case of principles now, the Italian FA have sided with the player even though his attitude is disgusting.

The chant 'no such thing as a black Italian' is totally unacceptable, it's a means to punish him as an individual but it has no place in the game as it is a horrible generalisation in essence, but they have stopped singing that for a while now, yet still keep getting punished.

It must be horrible for the Lega Calcio, having to hear 'se saltelli, muore Balotelli' ringing around the ground loudly on a live televised game, they'll keep doing it. It has become something of an anthem and signature song now. It is barely even about Balotelli anymore, it has become something of a cult joke how they sing it in games that are nothing to do with Balotelli or Inter.

Milito: "I want to kill Balotelli!"

Diego Milito admits playing against Mario Balotelli and alongside him makes no difference. “I still want to kill him!”

The Inter striker has been a sensation since joining from Genoa in the summer and you can see him in action against Bari LIVE on ESPN from 19.45 this evening.

“You see Mourinho as a different Coach from the others at first, because he is so good at communicating with the media, and so from the outside can seem distant from his players,” Milito told Sky Sport Italia.

“Instead I found a person who always tries to listen to his players, is very close to the squad and that was a wonderful surprise for me.”

The Argentine hasn’t entirely changed his opinion on Balotelli, having played against and alongside the fiery teenager.

“I must be absolutely honest here, when I played against him – and he knows this – I wanted to kill him! Now that he is my teammate, I still want to kill him!

“That’s what Mario is like. He certainly needs to grow, is a lad who requires maturity and time. When he understands where he is and starts to listen to the people he ought to be listening to, I am sure he’ll become a fantastic champion. Everyone knows his talent.”

Samuel Eto’o also publicly criticised Balotelli for his attitude this week and Milito reveals he has bonded better with the Cameroon striker.

“Eto’o has settled in very quickly and I think you can see that he is happy, that he tries to give his best and we are forming a good partnership.”

What an asshole he is.

Balotelli is at a crossroads, he could end up a great player, or he could fade away and waste his talent.

I hope for Italy's sake he actually gets his head right. I suppose a further scenario is that he ends up like Cassano, who could have stints at great clubs but may only thrive in an environment where he is given a long leash. I think he has too much of an ego to play for a smaller side though.

Up to now Juve have had fines totalling €165,000, a curva ban for the next home game, and a ban on away support for the Coppa Italia game against Inter in Milan, all for singing 'se saltelli, muore Balotelli'.

Well, they will just keep singing, it's fucking ridiculous how the club are treated this way when other sets of supporters get away with worse. The Lega Calcio will be cringing and it's reputation in tatters by the time this is finished, they can tag the song 'racist' all they want but it's clearly a load of nonsense and another case of them bending rules to target Juventus. Juve already have this 'racist' label now so it doesn't matter how many times we get column inches around the world for 'racist chanting', anybody with a bit of knowledge knows the difference. The funny thing about the whole thing is that they deliberately make no mention of race in the song and it is targeted at Balotelli directly, nothing to do with his skin colour. Yet they continue to be punished, so they thought 'fuck it', and sing it as loudly as possible every game.

Black players and Asian players are singled out by fascist and racist ultras from other sides on a regular basis, yet they have an odd fine if they are unlucky. Lazio supporters can chant 'se saltelli, muore Lucarelli' against the left wing Livorno-based striker and his team and nothing happens to them. They can sing songs about famine in communist countries. Inter ultras are allowed to monkey chant against several players this season alone, yet become hypocrites on the subject of Balotelli. You can't fine them for racist chanting, imagine how stupid it would look given the whole Balotelli scenario! They are untouchable! Juve unfurl an offensive banner and they get a fine, they do it twice they get a fan ban. A laughable disgrace, the Lega Calcio are nothing more than a criminal organisation. If they hadn't made such a big deal about this and backed up one disgusting piece of shit of a player then we wouldn't have heard mention of it again.
