Bologna sold to Albanians

The Menarini family have formally announced they are selling Bologna to Rezart Taci, an Albanian oil magnate.

The news comes just weeks after disgraced former Juventus director Luciano Moggi revealed he had been helping the Menarinis find new investors.

“Aktiva Spa [the company run by the Menarinis] communicates a deal to sell the majority stake in Bologna to an industrial group headed by Rezart Taci to come into affect in the first week of August,” a statement read.

Taci wanted an 80 per cent stake in the club and to do so it is reported he would have to pay €20m.

The only Serie A team to be foreign owned now, of course Albania has strong links to Italy anyway but the immigrants in the country are not really popular in Italy because of organised crime (ironic) etc so I wonder how this will be received.

Obviously the guy is loaded but there are no indications as yet that they will be spending millions, I'm sure he will help them though. We'll have to wait and see. Bologna were once a great club and it would be nice to add more strong competition to the league.

Taci to become Milan shareholder

Albanian magnate Rezart Taci pulled out of purchasing Bologna, but reveals he could buy into Milan to fund more transfer signings.

The deal to take over 80 per cent of Bologna’s shares was announced and the papers ready to be signed when he suddenly abandoned negotiations, but noted he was still going to invest in Italian football.

“[Prime Minister and Milan President Silvio] Berlusconi is an exciting figure. He is very tied up in the issues of Italy at the moment and so Milan cannot be the centre of his attention,” Taci told the Corriere dello Sport.

“We discussed many things, but the fact is the strategic interests of my business have changed. These same interests lead me to say that I will soon be working with a Serie A club.

“I will not rule out a return to Bologna, but I can say that I could soon become a minority shareholder in a very important club. We can become part of this new club before the start of the Serie A season.”

The Rossoneri have been scouting around for new investors after being forced to sell Kaka in order to balance the books.

Fans hope Taci’s involvement can provide the funds to bolster the squad after signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

“I am very satisfied with Huntelaar’s arrival. He is a great striker and the man we needed. Milan are going through a decisive period of reconstruction and rebirth.

“It is exciting and in two years the club will go back to dominating like at the start of Berlusconi’s reign. I am convinced that before the start of this season, Milan will make another big signing on the transfer market.”

???? He pulled out.

I heard he was a Milan fan before, looks like they might have another person funding some transfers, they can't do it themselves obviously wink.gif

He is a big Milan fan, he funded Milan's recent friendlies in Albania. He'd be a good person to have involved with the club and it seems quite likely to happen now.
