Just seen the goals, two from Diego Milito, two mistakes by Kraplac and Onyewu needs to learn how to actually stand someone up or he is going to get slaughtered.

Make sure you are between them and the goal, don't let them get round you. Onyewu on that first goal fell for a very basic drag back which he will see 1000 times a season. Defending in Italy is quite mentally sapping, it can seem quite comfortable for a time and then you have to be on your toes and the forwards all like to go round defenders rather than through them.

That still has nothign to do with standing them up, bet you if I asked other people they'd give a different meaning.

It's about standing your ground in the definition of the phrase and not committing yourself, in this instance I meant standing his position but another English football phrase which is relevant would be 'to be on your toes'.
