QUOTE
Speaking to Sky Sports, Kuyt said: “I was very disappointed. We played a friendly against a big country - Italy - and if you see the way they kicked us it's very sad, very sad for the Dutch team and also very sad for Robin because he was in great form.

“I think it was a bad tackle. Sometimes you think about this when you play a friendly for your country there should be more respect for each other and hopefully it won't happen in the future.”

hahaha.gif hahaha.gif hahaha.gif

He can be naturally upset that a teammate is injured, but to throw ridiculous accusations like that around, well it is pathetic. Especially when his teammate De Jong put the worst tackle of the match in - a horrible two footed stamp on Angelo Palombo.

Here is the bad tackle in all it's terror: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9057A479SYk hahaha.gif Perfect tackle from the man of the match. This freaky looking tosser needs to take a dose of perspective and stop getting caught up in the media bullshit, talk about mountain out of a molehill. I think his comments are disgraceful and indicative how people only have negative things to say about Italy.

Anyway I hope RVP gets back soon.
Oni
already a topic
JuveJay
No there isn't, this is my topic telling Kuyt to shut the fuck up.
Oni
Oh well okay then.

He barely got the ball, but unlucky injury.
JuveJay
He got plenty of the ball, if RVP doesn't get injured then everyone would say perfect tackle to stop a goalscoring chance, but of course injury will bring bitterness out. His left leg (obviously his shooting leg) was tackled and he jarred his right ankle on the follow through. It's also a problem because he has a very swinging shooting technique to get his power.

A bit like this:

WEll he was talking generally throughout the game, not just that tackle. We all know the italians are a bit underhanded and dirty in that way, this is nothing new and Dirk is just reminding us of this

Wonder what Dirk thinks about the Portuguese after that game in WC2006 wink.gif
Ricky
To be fair it is something to admire about the Italians, if they can't score and win the proper way they will go back to their roots as most of their families are probably involved with the mafia. It's win at all costs, it's an attitude to be proud of.

LOL ok even if we ignore the Portuguese bit (icon_mrgreen.gif), Kuyt is talking about the Italians kicking them, the Dutch team is hardly one of angels is it??

I need to find a video of the De Jong 'tackle' on Palombo really, but even if you ignore that red card leg breaking offence he also made persistant fouls alongside the angel that is Mark van Bommel hahaha.gif It was a competitive friendly with a good tempo to it, for some reason the Dutch took a funny with one of their players going off injured from an innocuous tackle, that's up to them.

Makes me think of this actually, if he can go in firm in training against his captain on the eve of a major tournament then making a last ditch tackle against an opponent in a game he considered key to the World Cup 2010 build up is no problem.
AlexRossi
This whole topic is just hilarious. It was a clean tackle simple as that, anyone with half a brain can see that. RVP was just unlucky.

Ricky does not count cause he is only on this forum to wind people up, but for a Portuguese supporter and for Kuyt to talk all this shit is just funny considering both Portugal and Holland are the two dirtiest teams in Europe.
JuveJay
Well I added those two as an after joke, but Miguel is a Liverpool fan, he is tongue in cheek anyway.

I'm sorry, but a friendly is now KEY to the World Cup now? How exactly is a friendly supposed to be key to anything other than a brief look at the team and for the players to gel a little? dunno.gif

Mate you are Canadian, aren't you supposed to be all friendly and not chat shit?
JuveJay
Yes, there are not many games left now, only a couple of friendlies.

Portugal are not a dirty team. Gamesmanship yes. But not dirty.
But the italians have always relied on some dirtiness over the years (as well as gamesmanship)...looking back at the likes of Giorgio Ferrini, Mauro Tassotti, Gentile, Montero, Gattuso, Tardelli, Matterazzi and now Giorgio Chellini....the proud italian tradition of kick first and ask questions later has never been more alive than it is today. Oops, almost forgot about The Adventures of Daniele de Rossi and the Flying Elbow

Tradition is a proud thing, you should embrace it. It's part of a proud identity which has helped you to World Cup glory numerous times. I'm not knocking it

Are we forgetting Grosso's dive against Australia that won them the penalty that won them the World Cup? snack.gif

I haven't but that comes more under gamesmanship, which apparently only Portugal and Holland are guilty of in the world of football hahaha.gif .

But this is about dirtiness and the italian team over the years are the undisputed world champions there. Again, it's not a bad thing, it's just the way it is in the same way the Brazil team have produced the most flair players
JuveJay
Montero the Uruguayan?

I prefer winning to not winning, let's have a little think about that.

Italians tend to fit more in the hard but fair category, while Argentines are more likely to cross the line into full-blown cheating.

I would say you are confusing Dirty players with aggressive players. Out of all the players you listed with the exception of Matterazzi who is a dirty f**k, none of those players are dirty. Its just there style to be a bit on the rough side. None of them go out looking to injure people like Matterazzi did. Thank God his playing days are pretty much over.
