Easy group. Probably the easiest we could hop for. We can possibly f*ck this up.
Italy
Paraguay
New Zealand
Slovakia

it really should be ok for Italy to finish this early

What I posted in the other thread:

Paraguay - will cause problems with their style and will surely be the toughest challenge in the group. DRAW
New Zealand - are a rubber and if Italy struggle against them might as well walk back home, but it wouldn't surprise me. WIN
Slovakia - are solid team with one or two class players, the sort of team Italy will probably draw with. WIN/DRAW

I reckon Italy will make hard work of it, it's not a cliché they do it in every single game against inferior teams, so should finish with 5-7 points and progress, maybe not as winners if Paraguay play well.

I would say you could end up with W1 D1 L1 if you mess it up and allow Slovakia to hold you and Paraguay get a result. I blindly predict W2 D1 L0 which is good enough, so jammy though we have it easy yet if we both f**k it up you will still look worse. icon_mrgreen.gif

Italy can take this. They opening fixture (against Paraguay) is the difficult one, but even a draw should be enough to win the group.

Then Denmark or Cameroon in the second round.

And the opening fixture is always the trickiest one for Italy where they just look not to lose and believe me would probably take a draw in that, which is why I think they will draw and risk a loss. But no question, Italy should progress and win the group.

italy are set to reach 48 Tournament wins with this group

Im not saying this group is a walkover, but we really could not ask for much easier.

Hopefully by June 2010 we will have a group of players who know how to play with each other and with a formation that works. I feel ever since WC 2006 every Italy game has been an experiment.

This is the World Cup and this is Italy. We have not been playing well as of late but this is a totally different story.

NZ give Azzurri warning

New Zealand already lost to Italy 4-3 in a recent friendly and assistant Coach Brian Turner feels that gave them “a lot of confidence.”

The Kiwis have been drawn in World Cup Group F along with the Azzurri, Paraguay and Slovakia.

“We will have to play to our very best to compete against the world champions and we definitely want to go away with good results,” Turner told FIFA.com.

“We have not been to the World Cup in 28 years and now we are here, we have to play against Italy, which is going to be a big challenge.

“Our game against the Italians before the Confederations Cup should give us a lot of confidence, though.

“We played a great game and were leading for most of the match, but they brought on the big boys in the end and beat us 4-3.”

They met on June 10 at the Super Stadium in Pretoria, but two of the three New Zealand goals could be attributed to the howlers of reserve goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

“That said, it was still a great experience for our players and one that should help us next year. Our target is very simple, and that is to gain the respect of people all over the world for our team.”

Well yeah, doesn't that say something lol? I'm afraid the 'big boys' will be playing against you next year mate, not the reserves you faced.
