Opening Day is today (not ESPN's fake opening day from last night)! I'd like to think the Cubbies can win it this year, but let's be real. If they stay healthy, I think they can make the playoffs.

Indians to run like madmen and win it, on the backs of Sizemore, Choo, Hafner, and the great arm of Kerry Wood icon_mrgreen.gif
themightyton
Disappointed with the result last night at Fenway especially after having a 5-1 lead and then a 7-5 lead in the late innings

the great arm of Kerry Wood icon_mrgreen.gif

I bet he spends more time on the DL than on the active roster this season.

I bet he tears up and gets 40 saves.

I beat he tears something up...most likely his shoulder or elbow. icon_mrgreen.gif

Yea I was expecting that one laugh.gif

But he'll destroy you in the 9th, calling it now.

Good game last night between Boston and New York. Pujols already has two homers. He's such a distance ahead of everyone it's amazing, even if he plays for St. Louis.
scottrh18
Terrible start for the Cubs. We suck. sad.gif

Pitching will be too weak to deal with St. Louis. The wild card will be the only chance.
scottrh18
I think whoever finishes second in the East will get the Wild Card. There's always next year.......

Thank you.

Cincinnati have done Opening Day big time for decades only for ESPN to attempt to steal it away with New York.

"For generations, Opening Day has arrived amid pageantry. In Cincinnati, Ohio, home of the sport's first professional team, an annual parade marks an unofficial "city holiday" with young and old alike taking the day off to cheer on the Reds. For decades, the first pitch of every major league season officially took place in Cincinnati. Cincinnati remains the only team who always opens the season with a home game."

I know the Reds are garbage, but this is something Cincinnati does and really honors as part of tradition.

ESPN had their opening night at Cincy a few years ago, too. Reds faithful were not happy.

That's because it is opening DAY and is always an afternoon game. It is not that hard, but I have slow opinion of ESPN when it comes to understanding sports anyways.
mcb27
It's ESPN. They screw up everything.

Geez you're worse than Cleveland, at least we wait until 1/4th of the season in to say that.

Yea, at least we can make it to the show.

Pirates lose 20-0 to the Brewers, the biggest loss in their 124 year history.

They had made a reasonable start this season, but it looks like their nearly 20 years of sucking will continue.

Fuck the Pirates and the City of Shitsburgh, they can go suck on a big fat cock for baseball and football.

7-8 right now for the Indians, our pitching isn't bad this season but we certainly could do better.
scottrh18
The bullpen for the Cubs is an embarrassment.

Well, have company with Reds at least.
Thorisgodpoo
So in total the Indians traded 5 players away before the trade deadline, Austin Kearns, Kerry Wood, Jake Westbrook, Jhonny Peraltaand Russell Branyan. All going to different teams for lower league talent. Typical of the Indians to unload dead weight like this, but to trade Kearns was ridiculous I think. He was starting to do good.
CK
Reds having best year in a generation. Still have Saint Louis battling so may all be for naught.
mcb27
Padres v. Rangers World Series.

MLB would love that. biggrin.gif
scottrh18
f**k Jim Hendry. That is all.
CK
Reds in the playoffs. Now everyone links we will get swept by Philadelphia.
Juan
Halladay throws a no-hitter as the Phillies beat the Reds 4-0 in Game 1 of the NLDS.

I found out today, apparently I missed that it'd started. It's an impressive feat and Philadelphia look damn good. I think they could win it all with that pitching.

Who's that on the left?

Who's that on the left?

Don Larsen, he pitched a no hitter for the New York Yankees in the 1956 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Juan
Cole Hamels throws a complete game shutout as the Phillies complete the sweep of the Reds.
Thomas19064
good stuff... 8 more wins until we are champs again. wink.gif
CK
Tip of the cap, Philadelphia was simply superior side. I'd be fine seeing them win it all (beat the ******** Yankees!)
Funki
Those things losing to Texas/TB would be a lot better.
Juan
Lincecum v. Halladay in Game 1 of the NLCS.

I am looking forward to that one.

Cliff Lee stars for Texas as the Yankees lose 8-0 in New York; the Rangers lead 2-1 in the ALCS.

Lee was fantastic last night.

If only the Rangers didn't squander that lead in game 1...

Dare we hope?

And San Fran leads 2-1 in the NLCS after their win this afternoon.
Funki
Rangers win. Yankees out.

Juan
Congratulations to the Rangers for winning their first-ever pennant.

Since they closed out the series in six, they will have Lee back for Game 1 of the World Series.

After Hicks leaves, coincidence?

Anyways, Yankees lose! Yankees looooooose!
Juan
The San Francisco Giants clinch the NL pennant with an 8th inning homer by Juan Uribe.

Commiserations to Philadelphia, it was a very close and competitve series.
