Following a miserable run of just one win in 22 outings, going back to last season, Depor sparked into life last month with a six-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

But their resurgence came to a screeching halt at Racing as they crashed to a 1-0 defeat, and forward Adrian Lopez does not want his team-mates dwelling on the loss. He said: “We went six games without losing, the other day things didn’t go well and we need to think about Monday’s match and improving. We need to forget about it and try to beat Hercules at home so we can continue with the run we had before the Racing game. This is an important game and it would be very good if we win. Hercules are a rival that are very close and if we lose those teams at the bottom could be a lot closer and it’s difficult being in this part of the table.”

Half time, 0-0.

Not much in the way of chances, Depor playing a very defensive 5-4-1. Weather conditions don't help either.

Game has picked up in the second half, Adrián went close with a great move beating two defenders, but Calatayud kept it out with a flying save.

Drenthe booked for diving in the area, tut tut.

1-0 Lassad

Saúl takes a FK, to the far post, Colotto heads back towards the centre and Lassad arrives to head in with power. Depor deserve it overall.

Ever see Depor getting back towards the top part of the table, Juan?

Ever see Depor getting back towards the top part of the table, Juan?

Obviously it's difficult to see them at the top again, but they have recovered from being dead last in the league, and Villarreal show that with a clever transfer policy a small club can get up there or thereabouts.

Final

Deportivo 1-0 Hércules

Hércules had a very late chance to equalise, but they can't have much complaint about the result. Deportivo up to 12th in the league, steadily moving away from the relegation battle.
