Well.......it has it's advantages in Seattle. First Place gets front page sports coverage as opposed to pg 10 with the Leafguard ads. Perhaps more people will discover that Seattle even has a team. Right now the marketing of this team consists of a website that nobody but a few thousand season ticket holders know about. Salmon fishing gets better Sports page placement.

And even when Vancouver won it all last season, most Vancouverites didn't even know of the existence of the team.

Beckham is the only solution, and he's coming in October

Although I do not share your enthusiasm for Beckham............ you may have a point regarding awareness for THE GALAXY. In last summer's DC vs Real Madrid game at Qwest, more people were there to see other players on Madrid. Only about 5,000 screaming teenage girls gave a rip about DB. True soccer fans will appreciate Becks if he plays well but the rest of North America won't give a damn. He's NOT Pele, Cruyff or Beckenbauer and the hype will wear off. I hope he does bring fans in to BC for the exhibition in October....... but I think the U-20 WC will do more for soccer if the US finish strong.
